https://in.canon/en/business/imageclass-mf3010/product

Struggling with the dreaded E202 error on your Canon MF3010 printer? I’ve been there, and I know how frustrating it can be when your printer suddenly stops scanning. But don’t worry—I fixed mine with a quick DIY trick, and I’m sharing the steps so you can get your printer back to working smoothly.

What Causes the E202 Error on Canon MF3010?
The E202 error typically points to a scanner issue, often caused by the scanner’s contact image sensor (CIS) failing to move properly along its steel rod. Dust, debris, or a lack of lubrication can make the scanner mechanism stick, triggering this error. In my case, the fix was surprisingly simple.

My DIY (Do it yourself) Fix: A Drop of Machine Oil
Here’s what I did to resolve the E202 error on my Canon MF3010:

Power Off and Unplug:
Safety first! I turned off the printer and unplugged it to avoid any mishaps.

Access the Scanner Rod:
I gently opened the scanner unit to expose the steel rod where the scanner moves.

Apply Machine Oil:
Using a small drop of machine oil (sewing machine oil works great), I lubricated the steel rod. Be careful not to overdo it—a little goes a long way!

Move the Scanner:
I manually slid the scanner back and forth to spread the oil evenly.

Restart the Printer:
After closing everything up, I plugged the printer back in, turned it on, and voila—the E202 error was gone!

Tips to Keep Your Canon MF3010 Running Smoothly
To prevent the E202 error from popping up again, here are a few maintenance tips:

Clean Regularly:
Wipe the scanner rod and glass with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol to remove dust.

Check for Obstructions:
Make sure no paper or debris is blocking the scanner’s path.

Update Firmware: Visit Canon’s official website for firmware updates to keep your printer in top shape.

Seek Professional Help:
If the error persists, it might be time to contact Canon support or a technician for a deeper look.

Why This Matters
Fixing the E202 error yourself can save you time and money. Plus, it’s satisfying to bring your printer back to life with a simple trick! My Canon MF3010 is now scanning and printing like a charm, and I hope this solution works for you too.
